DomainEscrow.com compared with Escrow.com

Both services are reputable and both will get a domain transaction closed. This page sets them side by side on the things that decide it — what gets secured, what it costs, and how you are looked after — comparing each service against its true counterpart rather than against whichever product flatters us.

Escrow.com figures taken from their own published pages and verified 30 August 2026. Escrow.com and Domain Concierge are trademarks of Escrow.com, Inc. We are not affiliated with them.

Comparing like with like

Escrow.com sells three things that overlap with what we do. Matching them up properly matters, because comparing our premium service against their basic one would flatter them, and the reverse would flatter us.

The differences that actually matter

1. Custody of the domain is included here. There, it is an upgrade.

Under both of our services the domain moves into a registrar account we control before the buyer pays anything. It is not an add-on and it does not cost extra.

At Escrow.com, their standard escrow holds the money and leaves the domain with the seller. To have them hold the domain as well you move up to Domain Concierge, which is charged at twice the standard rate, or, on a payment plan, add the Domain Name Holding Service at a monthly fee. Securing the asset is a paid upgrade rather than the default.

2. Your money sits in a regulated attorney trust account.

Escrow.com is a licensed escrow company. We are a law firm, and where we hold funds under our Escrow Service they sit in an attorney trust account governed by the professional responsibility rules that apply to lawyers holding money for other people — mandatory segregation from firm operating funds, strict accounting obligations, and the disciplinary oversight of the bar.

Those are a different and stricter set of obligations than those governing a payment company, and they apply whether or not anyone ever asks about them.

3. A named attorney supervises your transaction, and there are people to answer the phone.

Every transaction is supervised by a named attorney of the firm, who is accountable for it from the first notice to the final disbursement. He is supported by staff who process the day-to-day mechanics — the registrar correspondence, the confirmations, the payment records — so that there is always someone to answer the telephone, seven days a week, rather than a queue that opens on Monday.

You are not passed between support tiers, and you are never left wondering who is actually responsible. The attorney supervises every aspect of the transaction; the staff make sure it keeps moving while he does.

Comparison 1 — the entry-level service

Our Standard Service against their standard escrow, on a straight sale.

These are the two entry-level products. They cost similar money but secure opposite halves of the deal: theirs holds the buyer’s funds and leaves the domain with the seller; ours takes the domain into custody and leaves payment to run directly between the parties.

Sale priceEscrow.com standardOur Standard ServiceDifference

$5,000,000$47,500$39,000$8,500 cheaper

We are cheaper above $14,583. Below that their fee is lower, because our $350 minimum bites on small deals. Above it we are cheaper at every price, and the gap widens with size — $3,000 on a $500,000 sale, $8,500 on a $5,000,000 sale.

Comparison 2 — the full-custody service

Our Escrow Service against their Domain Concierge, on a straight sale.

This is the like-for-like comparison of the two premium products. Under both, the provider takes control of the domain and the money, checks the domain against the agreement, and releases each side only when the other has performed. Escrow.com charge twice their standard rate for it.

$5,000,000$95,000$65,000$30,000 cheaper

We are cheaper above $12,500 — and by a wide margin. On a $500,000 sale you save $5,500. On a $5,000,000 sale you save $30,000. Their Concierge rate doubles at every tier; ours does not.

Comparison 3 — payment plans and leases

Both our services against their standard escrow plus the Domain Name Holding Service.

On an installment deal, Escrow.com secure the domain through their Domain Name Holding Service. Their own published terms define that fee as a monthly holding charge — 0.01% of the domain value or $100, whichever is greater — plus the standard escrow fee. Concierge does not apply here.

We charge our service fee once, plus a 1.9% administration fee across the payments.

36 months$11,100$14,000$19,000
48 months$12,300$14,000$19,000

This is the one place Escrow.com can come out cheaper, and we would rather say so than have you find out later. Their holding fee is effectively flat at $100 a month whatever the domain is worth, while our administration fee is a percentage of the deal. On larger payment plans that arithmetic favors them.

If your transaction falls in that range, bring us the numbers and we will match or beat the equivalent Escrow.com quote. Send us the price, the term and their figure, and we will adjust ours. You should not have to pay more here to get an attorney trust account and a named attorney supervising the file.

Paying by card

On Escrow.com, credit card and PayPal are only available on transactions up to $5,000 — their published fee table records the payment processing option as “Not available” on every tier above that. Where card is available it adds 3.05% on top of the escrow fee.

We accept cards at any transaction size, at 2.9%, or 3.75% for American Express. On a payment plan that means a buyer can put the monthly payments on a card for the whole term, which is not an option that exists on the other side.

On anything sizeable a wire costs the buyer far less than a card, and we will always tell you so before you send anything. But there is a difference between advising against a payment method and not offering it.

Getting paid

Escrow.com is cheaper on outbound wires: $10 domestic against our $30, and $20 international against our $40. ACH is free on both sides.

When you can reach us

We work on transactions seven days a week. Twenty-four hours a day Monday through Friday, and from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Pacific on Saturday and Sunday. Domain deals do not keep office hours, registrars lock names at inconvenient moments, and a buyer who has just wired six figures should not have to wait until Monday to hear that it arrived.

When Escrow.com is the better choice

Escrow.com is long-established, licensed and reputable, and a great many domain transactions complete there without incident. This page is not an argument that they are bad. It is an argument that for a domain name transaction above about fifteen thousand dollars — particularly one where you want the domain itself secured, and not as a paid upgrade — we are the better instrument.

Talk to us before you decide

Tell us the price, the structure and who is paying the fee, and we will work out what your transaction costs on both services and tell you which is cheaper. If it is not us, we will say so.

The nature of this service

What this service is. Domain escrow and transfer services provided through DomainEscrow.com are administrative and transaction-facilitation services. We hold funds, verify that agreed conditions have been met, coordinate the movement of domain names between registrars, and disburse funds when the transaction completes.

What this service is not. These services are not legal services and do not constitute the practice of law. Using them does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and JJN Solutions Law, PLLC or any of its attorneys. The protections that accompany an attorney-client relationship — including the attorney-client privilege, the duty of confidentiality owed to a client, and the conflict-of-interest rules — do not apply to the escrow or transfer service.

We are neutral. JJN Solutions Law, PLLC acts as a neutral intermediary between the parties to a transaction. We do not represent the buyer, the seller, or any broker. We do not advise any party on whether a transaction is advisable, whether the price is fair, whether a domain name is worth what is being paid, or whether the terms are in that party’s interest. Each party is responsible for its own commercial and legal decisions and is encouraged to obtain independent advice.

If you want legal advice. Legal services are available separately. If you wish to engage JJN Solutions Law, PLLC for legal advice or representation on any matter, that engagement is separate from the escrow or transfer service, requires a written engagement agreement, is subject to a conflicts check, and is billed separately at the firm’s hourly rates. Nothing on this website, in our transaction documents, or in correspondence about a transaction constitutes legal advice.

About the trust account. Client funds are held in a regulated attorney trust account. This is an account-custody arrangement that governs how your money is held and safeguarded. It does not convert the escrow service into a legal service and does not create an attorney-client relationship.
